How to write a job post that gets good quotes

HireBase Team · · 0 min read

Clear scope, photos and a realistic budget get you faster, better proposals. Here is the checklist we see working every day.

Professionals decide in seconds whether a job is worth a proposal. A good post answers their three questions: what exactly needs doing, where and when, and how much you expect to pay.

1. Describe the outcome, not just the task

"Paint the living room" is vague. "Paint a 4×5 m living room, two coats, walls only, colour already chosen" tells a pro exactly what to quote. Mention:

2. Add two or three photos

Photos remove guesswork. A picture of the leaking tap or the garden to be cleared is worth a paragraph. You can add them when posting or from the job page later.

3. Set a realistic budget

Pick a range you are comfortable with. Too low and experienced pros skip it; too high and you overpay. If you are unsure, choose "Open to quotes" and let proposals guide you.

4. Be precise about timing

"Urgent — this week" and "Flexible, next month" attract very different pros. Choose the urgency that matches reality so nobody wastes time.

5. Reply quickly

Proposals arrive fast on active jobs. Answering questions within a few hours keeps the best professionals interested — they are quoting other jobs too.

Tip: after you hire, leave a review. Reviews are how the next client trusts the pro, and how the platform stays honest.
